Counselling

A space to unravel your truth in a confidential space, where you are seen, heard, and validated.

HOW CAN I HELP YOU?

(help yourself)

I work with managing common mental health issues;

Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Personal development, Work related issues.  Some issues may not be easy to define therefore through exploration together, we can begin to understand what is going on for you.

HOW DO I WORK?

I work with different theories, mainly Humanistic and Psychodynamic that will help you to understand cycles or patterns of your behavior in order for you to change and move forward with self-awareness and empowerment.

Working in this way is usually on a long-term basis as we work at a deeper level, working with the inner child, intergenerational trauma, and your own energy/emotional field.    However, you are autonomous when you wish to stop therapy and re-start therapy.

I work with individuals on an open-ended and short-term agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your now life experiences.

We may talk a lot but I also use creative tools to help you access deeper parts of yourself to allow the healing process to flow.  I use a mixture of visualization, cards, and art.

WHAT HAPPENS ON MY FIRST SESSION?

Session and consultation

My first sessions are for you to get a feel for how I work, for you to ask any questions you may have and if you feel open to, start to speak on or around the issues you may be having at this time.

If you have not had therapy before, it may feel daunting.  If you are not used to talking about yourself or putting yourself first, no problem, I use different tools to assist in the unfolding of your well-being.

As we will be meeting each other for the first time, it may take a few sessions to get comfortable, but even in the uncomfortable, we can begin to learn about our anxieties, our dis-trusts, and what we avoid or react to in life.

There is no need to prepare for a session, come as you are, start where you want to start, and talk how you want to talk (within reason, abuse towards me will not be tolerated).  What is imperative is that this is your space, remove all distractions, choose what you wish to focus on, and make use of YOUR INVESTMENT  IN YOU.

Questions and Answers - Counselling

How many sessions do I need?

There is no set session number as there may be more than one issue you wish to work on and working through issues are different from one person to the next.  Remember you are unique and taking the time to be with yourself and work with yourself should not be measured in time or numbers, but in how you feel and wish to continue to feel.  Note, that this is an investment in you, no one else will do this for you if you feel it is time to grow.

Do you have flexi-bookings?

Yes, my online or phone sessions are flexible if you have unpredictable days and times to work with,  Monday to Thursday,  provided there is the space.  I operate a 24-hour cancellation policy.

Face-to-face bookings are at a set time and place.  Contact me for a booking.

What can I and can't I speak about?

You may start with one or several issues, there is no limit.  However, the first six sessions must be weekly in order your you to settle into sessions and for me to know you.

You may find through talking, other past experiences presenting themselves to be looked at.  You are in the flow to let go....so let go.  If there are issues that need specialized attention, I will suggest a referral.

Can I bring family/friends/my partner to my session?

I provide individual, 1 to 1 counselling service only.  There are some issues you may not wish to share with others or work things out by yourself.  You may wish to continue with couples or family counselling, also known as 'we' counselling, after individual sessions which is a different way of working.
